Don Bosco Aluva Turns 40
Posted: Jun 25th, 2021
On 23rd June 2021, the foundation stone of Don Bosco Aluva turned Ruby. It was before 40 years that Don Bosco Aluva began its humble journey in a rented house in the property. The institute was initially started as a pre-novitiate formation house. The five pioneers worked hard along with the seven aspirants to lay foundation to what after 40 years would become Don Bosco Major Seminary: Salesian Institute of Philosophy, Religion and Humanities, through which around 1000 students and staff would have passed through. The present community of Aluva is blessed with the presence of two of the founding members, Fr. George Andrews Kottiry and Bro. N. C. Joseph and a student from the first batch of aspirants, Fr. K D Varghese. The solemn Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. George Andrews Kottiry, one of the pioneers. During the homily Fr. George Andrews shared some of his experiences from those initial days. The community also conducted an academy to mark the historical event. Fr. Joy Kaippananickal, the rector honoured the pioneers Fr. George Andrews Kottiry, Br. N. C. Joseph and Fr. K. D. Varghese with a shawl. A video presentation on the growth of DBA in the last 40 years was screened. The beautiful items performed by the brothers added colour to the event. The celebrations that continued through the fellowship meal met its conclusion with the good night talk given by Fr. K. D. Varghese in which he spoke how the experiences of those initial hard days gave him the courage to work in any circumstance.
